THE MALUS DOMESTICA ARCHIVE ist ein Feldforschungsprojekt und Archiv in Arbeit des Phänomens, Objekt und Begriff Apfel. Der Apfel als Hauptakteur, Werkstoff und Projektionsfläche vielseitiger Untersuchungs- und Bearbeitungsprozesse wird zum allgemeinen und besonderen Objekt der Begierde.
Dieser Prozess versteht sich als künstlerisches Experimentierfeld und work in progress Laborraum des Phänomens Apfel. Mittels verschiedener Medien und Zugänge zum Thema Apfel wird die Fülle der Möglichkeitsformen und Bedeutungsebenen eines Dinges ausgelotet. Auf der Metaebene kann
dieses Projekt als ernsthaft-ironische Suche nach „der Seele des Apfels“ gedeutet werden und wirft dabei die grundlegende Frage nach dem Sein („Das Ding dingt“, Heidegger) der Dinge auf. Die Beseelung der (vermeintlichen) Dinge als Ausweg aus der Krise…
Darf man in Erinnerung an die Allgemeingültigkeit der Moderne und des Relativismus der Postmoderne es überhaupt wagen, etwas Wahrhaftiges über etwas zu formulieren? Oder muss man Angesichts des Transhumanismus nicht schlicht ein Apfel werden, um Antworten über das Apfel – DaSein geben zu können?
Das fiktive Ziel wäre: „all about the apple“! Und der Apfel als Projektionsfläche zur Erleuchtung! (Apfelzen…)
Aber auf alle Fälle, der Apfel als the r e a l big data…
Der „Apfelkern“ von THE MALUS DOMESTICA ARCHIVE wurde im September 2010 gelegt und wuchs zu der ersten präsentierten Arbeit THE ALMA (LAMELLA) PROJECT:

THE ALMA PROJECT is the result of participating in Art in a Suitcase by the Slovenian curator Vasja Nagy, who invited the artist to join his project in the line of the first presentation at Schleifmühlgasse 12-14 Vienna on the 2nd of September 2010.
The artist decided to join Art in a Suitcase spontaneously by a „readymade done by nature“, an apple, which came from the organic apple plantation of the experimental garden of the University of Agriculture Vienna and was a leftover of making homemade applesauce some days before,
as it is the most favourite fruit of the artist since her childhood. In this correlation, the apple of concern already communicated coincidentally from the beginning, multiple approaches and qualities of perceiving an object/thing/phenomenon: the sensual perception related directly to
the body/material (making/digesting an applesauce), including the trigger of personal memories/emotions of the object and the scientific access (University of Agriculture) related to measurably data and rational concepts. Apart from that, the apple is one of the most common grown products
worldwide and relates to various topics of life, like agriculture – and food industry, medicine and cosmetics, mythology and tales, the Old Testament or rather the exegesis of the original sin of humanity eating from the forbidden fruit of knowledge and its consequences, which used to be an important
topic in art production/art history. In these regards, this common fruit appears as a quite complex, many layered and allegoric object, which embodies and stimulates a whole world and thereby meeting the artist’s desire for life and related artistic approach.
In the line of Art in a Suitcase, the artist defined the apple as a moving (SPACE) and living (TIME) sculpture, which supposed to be investigated via the INSTRUCTIONS the curator Vasja Nagy received from the artist.
TIME: taking a close up picture of the apple everyday during the Art in a Suitcase journey:
concerning the conditions of the organic material of the apple, the presence of time can be well observed and illustrated on the object and therefore transform the apple into a time based sculpture.
SPACE: taking as many pictures of the apple in different environments/situations and exhibition spaces of the Art in a Suitcase journey:
by putting always the same apple/object/thing into different spaces/situations/contexts may be an empiric study or rather strategy of perception, filtering/extracting the de-contextualized information, to illustrate a constant quality of the object, which means in other words, to maybe say something autonomously
true/real about something.

Der letzte öffentliche Ausdruck im Kontext von THE MALUS DOMESTICA ARCHIVE war die Apfelrede und damit verbundener Pflanzung eines Apfelbaumes im Oktober 2018 im Rahmen des von Club Real entwickelten Projektes Jenseits der Natur- Volksherrschaft im Garten

Das Apfelbäumchen aka Frau Pomona LaMela/Kronprinzessin Rudolfina 1/1210 gedeiht prächtig vor dem Gelände des Gewächshauses und besitzt hoffentlich noch seine 17 Äpfelchen, bald zum Ernten bereit…
Im Sinne der Apfelrede ist das Ziel in jedem Bezirk von Wien einen Apfelbaum zu pflanzen!
